Heiner Frei was born in December 1950 in Brugg, Switzerland.

Education:
The basic schools in Brugg, Aarau and Los Angeles were followed by medical studies at the University of Berne. Medical assistant in the Swiss Disaster Relief Unit in Tschad and Niger in 1974. Promotion to M.D. in 1977. Specialisation in pediatrics at the University Childrens Hospitals in Berne and Lucerne, with special emphasis on pediatric surgery, neonatology, intensive care and developmental medicine. Clinical work as head physician in pediatric hematology/oncology at the University Childrens Hospital Berne from 1984 to 1987. Since 1987 pediatric practice in Laupen. At the same time begin of an education in classical homeopathy. Teaching homeopathy in Switzerland and in international seminaries and congresses since 1994. From 2001 to 2005 president of the Swiss Association of Homeopathic Physicians.

Research:
1996 begin of homeopathic research-activities leading to publications of clinical studies about homeopathic treatment of acute tonsillitis, otitis media, ADD/ADHD and other topics. From 2001 to 2005 study coordinator of the Swiss randomised controlled trial on homeopathic treatment of ADHD, performed at the University of Berne. This trial yielded scientific evidence for a specific effect of homeopathic medicines and was published in 2005.
The current research activities center around the further development of Polarity Analysis, a method dicovered during the ADHD-study, which considerably increases the precision of homeopathic prescriptions.
In 2009, Heiner Frei was given the Research Award of the Max Tiedemann Foundation.
